Marion Cecile Eddington Longmeyer, a retired teacher for New Orleans Public Schools and a homemaker, passed away on February 16, 2010 at 87 years of age. Mrs. Longmeyer leaves behind to celebrate her life: two sons, seven grandsons, three granddaughters, sixteen great- grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

The Community Aids Resource and Education Services center in Kalamazoo held a symbolic public HIV testing event Friday afternoon to encourage residents, especially those in the black community, to get tested.

The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) kicked off a semester-long initiative to aid Haiti relief efforts on Saturday with a flag football event.
