Omega Psi Phi Fraternity awards scholars for 2012
The Alpha Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity selected Tevin Taylor as the Omega Founders’ Scholar of the Year 2012.
Taylor is the son of Terrence and Felicia Taylor. He attended Rocky Mount High School and will attend Winston-Salem State University in the fall.
First runner-up is Bruce Kelly Wade Morton. He is the son of Felix and Shirley Morton, and he is a former senior at Northern Nash High School.
Second runner-up is Reuben Cooper Blackwell V. He is the son of Reuben and Neva Blackwell IV, and he is a former senior at Rocky Mount High School.
Members of the Founders’ Circle were as follows: Tevin Taylor, Bruce Morton, Reuben Cooper Blackwell V, DeQuavais Mann and Jason McCleary. Mann is a former senior at Northern Nash High School and is the son of Raymond and Velma Mann Hunter. Jason McCleary attended Nash Central High School and will be a freshman at East Carolina University in the fall. He is the son of Anthony and Vanessa McCleary.
Members of the Founders’ Circle raised more than $5,000 in scholarship funds. Each participant has earned scholarship funds towards their college education. The total raised was $55,000.
