SGRho Soror Nina Sutton crowned Miss Voorhees College
Nina E. Sutton was crowned Miss Voorhees College 2010-2011 on Friday during a ceremony in the Leonard E. Dawson Health and Human Resources Center. The theme for the coronation was “A Testament to Royalty.”
Sutton, who is from Bronx, N.Y., is the 20-year-old daughter of Tyrone Small and Jennifer White-Small.
“I am honored and humbled to hold the title as Miss Voorhees College,” Sutton said. “This institution has provided me with numerous opportunities for growth and improvement.”
Sutton’s platform is “BELIEVE” – “Becoming Erudite Leaders In Every Voyage and Endeavor.”
“Through my platform, I plan on providing students with the confidence they need to enhance their lives through various workshops,” she said. “I want to ensure that I have inspired students that hard work and perseverance truly pays off.”
Sutton has been involved in various activities and organizations since enrolling at Voorhees. Some of her memberships include the Student Government Association, concert choir, Ernest Everett Just Science Club, E.E. Wright Drama Guild, TEAM Foundation, Pre-Alumni Council and Minorities in Agriculture, and Natural Related Resources and Sciences. She is also a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc.
Sutton is a biology major and plans to attend the State University of New York College of Optometry following her graduation from Voorhees in May 2011.
