Delta National President to speak at Monroe Alumnae founders day event

Monroe Alumnae, Grambling Alumnae, Lambda Rho, and Delta Iota chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. are celebrating the 97th anniversary of the founding of this illustrious sisterhood by hosting the 24th National President, Cynthia M. A. Butler-McIntyre as guest speaker. The Sorority was founded in 1913 by 22 students at Howard University. This Founders Day dinner program is scheduled February 14, 2010 at 4:00 P.M. at the Monroe Civic Center. The program is open to the public at a cost of $35.
Butler-McIntyre has served Delta Sigma Sorority with distinction at the local, state, regional and national levels. With more than 250,000 women operating in nearly 1,000 chapters in the U.S. and abroad, she is the first National President to hail from the state of Louisiana. Chapters located outside the United States are in England, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas and the Republic of Korea. As a non-profit organization, the major programs of the sorority are based upon the organization’s Five Point Programmatic Thrust of Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health and Political Awareness and Involvement.
Residing in New Orleans, Butler-McIntyre and is an educator who serves as a director of human resources for the Jefferson Parish Public School System in Harvey, La. She has impacted the lives of countless young people as a teacher, assistant principal, summer school principal and personnel administrator in her school district.
As a motivational, educational and religious speaker, Butler-McIntyre has inspired thousands and she lives by the words from 1 Peter 4:10 which state in part that “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others.” She is an electrifying speaker who will surely mesmerize and captivate the audience.
