Raymond McAllister Sr. honored as Durham Senior Kappaman of the Year

The Triangle Founders Day program of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. was Jan. 23 at Bay 7, hosted by the Durham Alumni Chapter.

Raymond McAllister Sr. was the recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award as the Senior Kappaman of the Year 2010 for meritorious and devoted service to the Durham Alumni Chapter.

After graduation from Hillside High School in the Class of 1946, McAllister decided that he wanted to become a Kappa. He received a four-year scholarship in art to attend West Virginia State College.

In October 1946, he joined the Scroller’s Club to learn more about the fraternity.

On Dec. 17, 1947, McAllister was initiated and became a member of the Tau Chapter at the age of 17.

He joined Durham Alumni in 1954, and has served in various leadership positions. The most prestigious was Keeper of the Exchequer.

Presently he serves as the Assistant to the Keeper of Records, and Chairman of the Auditing Committee.

His total service to his fraternity is 62 years.
