Sigma Gamma Rho Soror Cheryl Davis receives Meritorious Service Award

Davis served on the College’s Board of Fellows and Commission on the Future and has helped to shape mentoring programs through Gettysburg Career Connections, Bright Lights Big City, and the Alumni Mentor Retreat. She earned the Harrisburg Alumni Club Service Award and Women of Distinction honor and was instrumental in establishing the College’s chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho. As an undergraduate she was captain of cheerleaders and a leader involved in the College Union Board, Black Student Union, Chapel Council Lecture Committee and a tutorial program for local minority youths.
She majored in elementary education, earned a law degree at the University of South Carolina, and became Director of the Office of Special Assistants for the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, overseeing more than 50 technical and legal professionals.
