Simon Youth Foundation
The Communications Manager leads SYF’s communication functions associated with the organization’s awareness, fund development, digital media and relationship building; including public, community and SPG internal corporate relations to enhance and sustain the Foundations presence on a local, regional and national level.
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, marketing, communications or related field.
Proven record of communications experience, of in a non-profit setting, or evidence of possessing necessary skill sets.
Effective communication generalist. Superior, proven written and verbal communication skills that capture the attention of the receiver and a strong ability to translate complex information into informative, influential and accurate messages that are easily understood.
Demonstrated fundraising and special event management experience.
Capacity to work within a team environment.
Ability to think strategically.
Computer/software competency. Knowledge of Blackbaud, HTML, CRM, CMS systems is desirable.
Capability to handle multiple projects at any time is a given, and must be substantiated.
MAJOR DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage all internal and external communications, as established by the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Development Officer, including:
Digital and social media
Grant and award applications
Media relations/press releases
Simon Youth Foundation Annual Report and communication collateral
Coordinate SPG related communications and fundraising through internal channels
Employee Contribution Campaign
SPG Bulletin Board
Property Management Update
Policies & Procedures
SYF in a box
Serve as Foundation liaison with SPG Corporate Communications, digital media, marketing and special events as needed.
Implement and oversee local special events, as directed by Director, Advancement.
AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY
Manager, Communications has the authority and responsibility to:
Serve as spokesperson on behalf of SYF either through delegation or absence of the CEO or CDO.
Pursue in-kind gifts or grants that support the fundraising efforts and/or operational budget.
BUDGET RESPONSIBILITY Oversee effective use of budgets in marketing, public relations and branding in collaboration with CDO/DA.
