The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity at Fort Valley State University has been suspended as authorities investigate an alleged hazing incident that left a student hospitalized with injuries to his kidney area. Police say Bryson Trumaine Amey, 21, or Fort Valley, was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery. School officials say the incident took place off campus. The fraternity’s 15 members are not allowed to participate in any activities pending the results of the investigation.

Police say the victim told his mother about the incident last week and she contacted campus police, who are working with the fraternity’s regional office in the case. The results of the investigation will be forwarded to the Peach County district attorney.
