
AKA Soror Bettina Durant Tapped To Lend Assistance to Award Winning College Newspaper
Gwinnett resident Bettina Durant has been appointed to serve as a secondary advisor to the award winning Collegian newspaper of Georgia Perimeter College (“GPC”). Durant will lend assistance to Advisor Cynthia Stevens in advising students as to journalistic style and writing. Durant began as an adjunct with GPC in August 2007 and presently teaches Communication and Journalism. She is a graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana and Loyola University New Orleans. Professional experience includes chief legislative aide, freelance columnist/ freelance writer, public information officer and instructional designer.
Durant is a member of the American Association of University Professors, National Association of Black Journalists, National Association of Educators and Georgia Association of Educators. A member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and advocate for community service, she has been honored with the following awards: Crescent City Links Chapter Unsung Hero
name a few.
In 2010 Durant was appointed to the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated International Communications Committee and continues to work to share the message of sisterhood and service to all mankind globally. She is an active member of the Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter of Gwinnett County, Georgia.
