Kinston Zetas hosts 11th senior health program
The Delta Rho Zeta chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. held its senior health program July 28 at King’s Restaurant.
A group of women representing 26 local and surrounding area churches attended the program, which focused on “Health, Wellness and Shingles.” Speakers were Sonia Joyner, a nurse with Corporate Community Health at Lenoir Memorial Hospital; Dr. DeShanta King, Community Health Center and LMH, and a sorority sister; and Shannon Plymouth, a nurse with Boice Willis Clinic in Rocky Mount, who conducted hypertension screenings and is a past “Miss Blue Revue” queen.
The program is held yearly as one of the national “Z-Hope” programs — Zetas Helping Other People Excel. The program also included brunch, games and gifts, and special presentations.
Chapter members participating on the program included: Evelyn Smith, presiding; Dorothy Williams, welcome/occasion; Jennifer Kilpatrick, introductions; Mallie B. Stocks, recognitions/presentations; Patricia Boone and Tarsha Thompson, games/gifts.
Other chapter members are Carrie Kornegay, Doris Parker, Cynthia Corbitt, Shirley Dove, Patricia Griffin, Lynnetta Fields, Fannie Smith, Theresa Redding, Rose Watford and Creola Warner.
Program Committee members included Mallie Stocks, Evelyn Smith and Tarsha Thompson.
