Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated, Gamma Phi Zeta Chapter will host a luncheon and fashion show April 10, at the Bartow Civic Center.

The fashions, provided by Elonka’s Boutique in Winter Haven, will range from casual dress to formal wear. Men’s wear also could be featured.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority was founded shortly after World War I, in 1920. The sorority was founded on the belief that sorority elitism and socializing should not overshadow the real mission for progressive organizations- to address social mores, ills, prejudices, poverty, and health concerns of the day.

Zeta’s national and local programs include endowment of its National Education Foundation, community outreach services and support to multiple affiliate organizations. American Cancer Society, March of Dimes and Stork’s Nest also are among its charitable partnerships.

The sorority also helps youth, provides scholarships, supports organized charities and promotes legislation for social and civic change. Local youth will be featured in the program and a committed community “Woman Who made a Difference” will be acknowledged.

For details about the Polk County Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated, or the luncheon and fashion show, call Juanita Mack at 863-676-6984, or e-mail Leggie Boone at llboone@hotmail.com.

The event will begin at 1 p.m. The cost to attend is $25 per person, which covers the luncheon and show. All proceeds will benefit the sorority’s scholarship program.
