Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Donates Supplies to Primary School
NASSAU, Bahamas — In an effort to jumpstart a newly formed relationship, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated, Rho Upsilon Chapter recently donated school supplies to the T. G. Glover Primary School on Wednesday, September 9, 2015. The donation also marks the beginning of the organization adopting the school.
“We are very excited to partner with T. G. Glover and we intend to work closely with administration to assist in any way that we can,” said chapter president, Tonesha Smith as she explains the sorority’s dedication to community outreach.
Sorority members donated notebooks, pencils, geometry sets and other school essentials to the student body at an assembly held at the primary school. The chapter members also spent time interacting with the students with fun trivia questions and giveaways to students who were celebrating their birthday.
“It is extremely important to us that we do what we can to render assistance to our Bahamian youth and community at large, they are the future of our nation,” chapter secretary Ashley Pratt said as she shared the plans of the chapter to provide tutoring assistance during afternoon classes.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated, Rho Upsilon Chapter that was established recently at the College of the Bahamas is a community-conscious, action-oriented organization. The chapter exemplifies the principles of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was founded January 16, 1920, at Howard University, Washington, D.C. by five courageous African-American young ladies. The Sorority’s international programs such as Z-HOPE (Zetas Helping Other People Excel) through Mind, Body and Spirit serve to empower people from all walks of life. As the sorority moves toward its centennial, it retains its original zest for excellence. It espouses the highest academic ideals and that has resulted in its members serving in groundbreaking roles in all fields of endeavor.
